International Relations
Description
International security (the study of war, conflict, peace, etc.) and international political economy are the two fundamental subfields of international relations (trade, foreign direct investment, international finance, etc.). But it also increasingly encompasses disciplines that cross
substantive boundaries, such the study of international organizations, as well as other areas of global importance, like the environment, human rights, and international law.
For a very long time, Maryland has been regarded as one of the best universities in the world to study international security. Together with colleagues in comparative politics, the international relations group has put together one of the most effective programs for the study of civil wars.
