Comparative Literature

Description

Comparative literature will be a fascinating area of study for you if you have literary interests and are proficient in one other language in addition to English. The emphasis calls for focused study of two literary traditions as well as advanced proficiency in a second language. You will get the chance to examine texts from a variety of cultural contexts, historical eras, or literary movements as a comparative literature student. Additionally, you will study literature in relation to other academic fields (like religious studies, philosophy, and ethnic studies) as well as other types of art and cultural production. You will also engage in more difficult comparison, translation, and transmission exercises across cultural, linguistic, and national boundaries (e.g., film, digital culture, performance).
