Classics
Description
The study of ancient Greece and Rome, two civilizations whose legacy significantly influenced our modern world, is included in the academic discipline of classics. Inter-disciplinary studies of language, linguistics, and literature, as well as archaeology, art, and architecture, history, philosophy, science, and medicine, as well as myth and religion, are all included in the Classics specialisation. There is no prerequisite for Classics at Maryland University in terms of knowledge of an ancient language. Students have the option of starting from beginning with Greek and/or Latin or building on past knowledge by enrolling in more challenging courses.
