Celtic Languages and Literatures

Description

The only department of its kind in North America is the Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures at Harvard. The unit provides instruction in a variety of Celtic languages, and as part of our Ph.D. program, candidates must be fluent in at least two Celtic languages—Irish and Welsh—in both their early and contemporary forms. The program aims to give Ph.D. candidates a thorough understanding of the history, theory, and numerous subfields that make up the area of Celtic studies.
