African and African American Studies

Description

A doctorate in African and African American studies is available through the Department of African and African American Studies, which identifies theoretical, conceptual, and methodological connections across the African Community. Students are encouraged to consider deeply the parallels, contrasts, and connections within the African Society in light of shared issues regarding race, racism, slavery, colonialism, post-colonialism, modernity, and other conceptual frameworks for understanding Africa and the Americas.
