Middle Eastern Studies

Description

The Middle Eastern Studies program at Maryland is a demanding, multidisciplinary course of study that gives students a lot of freedom to learn about the modern Middle East and North Africa. In addition to offering a minor in Middle Eastern languages, we admit students as Middle Eastern majors, secondary majors, and minors.

Students can enroll in a variety of upper-level courses provided by the Five Colleges after having a basic foundation of Middle Eastern history and societies. Through language courses inside and outside of the Department, one can become fluent in one of the main Middle Eastern languages, typically Arabic
